The $20 goal was reached on May 31, which means I'll be acquiring an internal capture card.
As an aside, partly due to my own laziness in not promoting it, the forums have been growing very slowly so I don't think spending the money from my first goal on removing the ads is a good investment right now.
I have only a little experience with external capture cards (Final Fantasy Tactics was recorded using one of the Haupaugge models), but the quality was a little lacking for what I want. Higher resolution and framerates will also be more than a USB 2.0 card would be capable, possibly even 3.0.
I've decided to move forward with the Elgato HD60 Pro, an internal card that boasts low latency and a bunch of other jibber jabber. The main takeaway is that it allows me to record actual consoles now instead of emulating everything, as some games have proven to be very difficult to emulate due to small quirks that just annoyed the shit out of me (audio issues in Vagrant Story).
Once my current stream game is wrapped up, which as of June 5th is Xenogears, I'd like to try streaming something via the capture card. Based on how long Xenogears is taking I should have ample opportunity to sort out any technical issues with the card before then.
The other aspect of the capture card that I'm looking forward to is that it can be used to record another PC; as part of the next Patreon goal I plan on putting it into a PC that exclusively records my main PC, which should allow higher graphic settings, as well as let me play games that normally don't play nicely at all with recording software (Fallout 3 as an example)
Thank you again to all those who pledged money, and everybody that watches my videos!
